About the title

That other magazine, the one you find at your dentist's office, lost all claim to the title when they began focusing upon celebrities and "personalities" rather than people. This occurred approximately at its inception. Though other periodicals have since surpassed it in its degree of banalization and spectacularization, it remains as a symbol of empty gossip culture. People Magazine exists as its critique and its correction.
